Every place has its purpose, its history and its own space. All these places - parks, school yards, gardens - are in use by people. I create site-specific artworks to celebrate these living places, areas that have their special uses and that are constantly changing. Nature and its enormous diversity are my inspiration and a tool for me to create works of art. I am particularly inspired by the meaning that nature, landscape, trees and plants hold for people and their environment. For one person an apple tree is mainly an object of use because of the fruit that it produces, while another sees the tree's blossom in spring and the beauty of its form. This cultural layer is reflected in the artworks: a butterfly window, a sunflower garden or a project about extreme weather at sea. Just as diverse as the places for which they are made.
A good artwork represents the culmination of the inspiration and curiosity of all the parties involved in the creative process. Interest in one another’s ideas, an open mind and enthusiasm are important aspects of a fruitful partnership. I provide advice based on my experience as an artist, and act as intermediary from the outset right up to the delivery of the artwork. My role involves developing a vision, managing the process and providing practical support. Over the course of recent years I have worked as an adviser for many different clients, both central government and local councils. This has resulted in an array of artworks at very diverse locations: artworks developed specially for that specific place, with enormous dedication from the artist and the client. These artworks have become an integral part of everyday public life. Read more >
